New Account New Guild Wars
I just created this account. I used to play this game back in the day and now everything has changed. There are expansions and all kinds of new stuff. I think most of my equipment is obsolete. I plan on getting the expansions soon, but for now all I have is prophecies. Any advice on what to do in the meantime to prepare myself? Should I just sit around and earn gold?
I have 3 lvl 20s and a 6 so I can go or do basically anything in prophecies for now. Oh and is my Avatar visible? |

If you have max level armour and max stat weapons from when you played long ago, then your equipment is not obsolete. No armour or weapon stats have been increased, level cap is still the same.

Well you can check out current quests and elite quests in Prophecies at GuildWiki http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page
Without knowing just what the game was like when you stopped playing it's hard to suggest anything. The two later chapters, Factions and Nightfall, are described both on GuildWiki and in the sticky (new player on a budget) in the Q&A forum. |

99% of stuff is cheaper now compared to the good old days so you don't need a great deal of money.
There has been some major changes but nothing you can't adjust to in a short period of time.

The games are meant to work together or separately so it should take you from 1 to 2 weeks max to adapt to the new things from the expansion. www.guildwiki.org will probably be your best friend during that time.

Money for weapons? A 20/20 sundering +30 health 15^50 sword performs the same no matter where its from.
Make money, yes, but for SKILLS! The new skills and combos you can make having all 3 games is what gives you an advantage over people who only have one of them. I recommend you go to wiki and look at all the skills and builds that use them. |

A max weapon is a max weapon. There may be prettier skins out there now, but your sword is still as good as new.
However, you didn't mention whether you're a PvE or a PvP player. If you're PvP then your char is definitely out of date. Most competitive builds will require skills from all 3 chapters. If you only play PvE then you may have problems with PUGs that ask you to use a skill from another chapter, but that's nothing you can't live without. Just tell those PUGs that you don't have that chapter and they can deal with it. (If not, find another PUG) Off topic: Thud!! Howdy! Haven't seen you around this forum before. Remember me? |

My suggestion for getting back in the game (I too just rejoined in the last 2 months or so) is to get a little cash to get ungraded weapons and to spend time learning the new economy and to talk to friends about updated PvP/PvE things. Essentially just spend time getting with the times really, so that when you get the games, your not so far over your head in information that you cannot understand whats going on. |

The computer I have to use right now is a disgrace to oversized calculators everywhere so I can't go farming really and its to unreliable to run other people places. I don't know if it can even hand heroes ascent. So I can either farm random junk like in the desert or jungle to get some money or I can earn faction points in random arena etc and maybe practice heroes ascent if this thing will handle it.
